Votes will be counted day after the election - Deshapriya

Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya says that the counting of votes will commence on August 6, the day after the general election.

The Chairman mentioned this when he arrived at the Kandy District Secretariat to attend a meeting today (21).

District Secretary Tissa Karunaratne and officials of the Kandy District who are involved in the election activities met with the Election Commission Chairman to discuss on the particulars of holding the General Election 2020.

Speaking to media, he said that many aspects of the election, including the number of election officials, the number of polling stations, and the cost of the election has not been set as of yet.
