Sri Lanka’s first-ever female DIG appointed

Bimshani Jasin Arachchi has been appointed as the first ever Woman Deputy Inspector General (WDIG) of Sri Lanka.

WDIG Jasin Arachchi was appointed as the Head of the Police Welfare Range by the National Police Commission (NPC).

She graduated from the University of Ruhuna with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics, Sinhala and Statistics. She later obtained a Masters in Human Rights from the University of Colombo Sri Lanka.

In 1997, Jasin Arachchi joined Sri Lanka Police as an Inspector of Police and was promoted to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in 2017.

She has been serving at the Bureau for the Prevention of Abuse of Children and Women of Sri Lanka Police since 2010.
