Travel restrictions have been imposed in 05 areas in Kegalle, says Kegalle District Health Services Director Dr. Padmakumara Wickramasinghe.

Accordingly, movement of the members of the public in Iriyagolla, Embulambe, Pinhena, Alawatte and Kiriwallapitiya have been restricted for the time being.

Dr. Wickramasinghe said the decision came after a woman from Rambukkana was tested positive Covid-19.

The woman in question, who is a resident of Iriyagolla area, is reportedly an employee of an apprel factory in Kalagedihena.

Kegalle District registered 15 positive cases of Covid-19 following the recent outbreak of the virus. A total of 636 persons in the district have been placed under self-isolation at their respective residences.

Dr. Wickramasinghe further said random PCR tests will continue to be carried out in the district.
