70 more Covid-19 patients discharged upon recovery

Seventy more individuals infected with COVID-19 have made complete recoveries today (24), says the Ministry of Health.

As per the situation report issued by the Epidemiology Unit, 17 patients from National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), 12 from Welikanda Base Hospital, 05 each from Minuwangoda Base Hospital, Hambantota District General Hospital and Rambukkana District Hospital, 09 each from Colombo East Base Hospital and Theldeniya Base Hospital, 07 from Laggala Pallegama Hospital and 01 from Galgamuwa Base Hospital have been discharged.

COVID-19 recuperations confirmed in Sri Lanka thereby reached 3,714.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 figures surged sharply with 866 infections registered on Friday (21), marking the highest daily count Sri Lanka has recorded ever since the outbreak of the pandemic. According to statistics, the positive cases count now sits at 7,153.

The Epidemiology Unit says 3,424 active cases are currently under medical care at selected hospitals.

Sri Lanka also witnessed 15 deaths from the virus so far.
