Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll revised to 21

Sri Lanka’s health officials have decided not to count the death reported as the 22nd coronavirus death in Sri Lanka as a death caused by COVID-19.

Accordingly, the country’s death toll has been revised back to 21, states the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry.

On October 31, a 27-year-old male suicide victim died on admission to the Panadura Base Hospital. A PCR test carried out during the post mortem had determined that the deceased had been infected with COVID-19.

Subsequently, the Epidemiology Unit declared his death the 22nd COVID-19 death in Sri Lanka, this morning (02).

However, as the infection had no part in the cause of death, it has been decided not to count his death as a COVID-19.
