Tally of COVID-19 infected police officers climbs

Seven more officers attached to the Borella Police Station are confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 virus.

Accordingly, the total number of infections reported from the station has risen to 48 cases.

Another 17 members of the Colombo Fort Police Station have also been diagnosed with the virus.

So far, a total of 180 coronavirus-infected police officers have been identified from the Western Province.

A total of 257 officers have been directed to quarantine centers.

Reportedly, 297 officers infected with the COVID-19 virus have been identified from various police stations on the island.

Meanwhile, 33 cases of COVID-19 were reported from several areas under the Office of the Ja-Ela Medical Officer of Health yesterday (04).

Among them, 06 have been identified as officers attached to the Rajagiriya Police Special Task Force camp.

All of them are associated with the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.
