Coronavirus: 219 fresh positive cases confirmed

Sri Lanka confirmed 219 fresh positive cases of Covid-19 this evening (20), says the Department of Government Information.

Reports revealed that 215 of the newly-identified patients are close contacts of the earlier cases from the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster. With the latest development, total infections from the dual cluster reached 15,765.

In addition, two seafarers and two arrivals from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were also tested positive for the virus.

The country has recorded a total of 439 infections within the day.

Thereby, coronavirus cases confirmed in Sri Lanka since March this year have reached 19,280.

The Epidemiology Unit says 13,271 patients have made complete recoveries from the virus while 5,936 active cases are still under medical care.
