Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda Covid-19 cluster tops 16,000 infections

Sri Lanka has confirmed 257 new positive cases of Covid-19 this evening (21), says the Department of Government Information.

As per the reports, all of the newly-identified patients are close contacts of the earlier cases from the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster. With the latest development, total infections from the dual cluster reached 16,022.

Thereby, Sri Lanka has recorded 19,537 coronavirus infections so far, since the outbreak of the pandemic in March.

The Epidemiology Unit says 13,590 patients have made complete recoveries from the virus while 5,873 active cases are still under medical care.
