Two COVID-19 deaths recorded on Friday

Sri Lanka has confirmed two new COVID-related fatalities on Friday (April 09), says the Director-General of Health Services.
The new development brings the death toll from the virus to 595.
One of the deceased is a 66-year-old female from Vavuniya. She was tested positive for COVID-19 while she was undergoing medical care at the Vavuniya District Hospital and was later transferred to Homagama Base Hospital. She died on April 08 due to COVID pneumonia and septic shock.
The other victim was identified as a 71-year-old male from Yalwela area who died on April 08 while receiving treatment at the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital. He was under medical care at the Bibila Base Hospital. The cause of death was recorded as COVID pneumonia, heart disease and acute kidney disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.
