The government has decided to provide an allowance of Rs. 2,000 for people whose livelihoods are affected by the ten-day quarantine curfew.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Finance has directed the District Secretaries to prepare a list of names of the beneficiaries.

The allowance is expected to be disbursed to the beneficiaries starting from next week.

An island-wide quarantine curfew was imposed from 10.00 pm yesterday (August 20) until August 30 (Monday) in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19 and to ramp up the national inoculation drive.
