A tense situation is reported near the residence of the Mayor of Moratuwa Saman Lal Fernando, says Ada Derana reporter.

According to reports, a group of people are engaging in a protest in front of the mayor’s residence.

Carpenters in Moratuwa had initiated a protest march earlier today from Willorawatte in Moratuwa, against the soaring prices of commodities.

They later proceeded towards the Moratuwa Municipal Council and staged a demonstration there.

As the road in front of the municipal council was completely blocked by the demonstration, the riot police was also deployed to the scene.

The protesters then proceeded to the mayor’s residence in Willorawatte and engaged in a protest while hurling stones.
