Mobile app launched to detect authenticity of liquor

The Department of Excise has introduced a mobile application to detect the authenticity of liquor bottles available for purchase in the market.
The app, named ‘Excise Tax Stamp Validator’, was introduced to crack down on the distilling, marketing, distributing an selling of fake or bootleg liquor.
The consumers can scan the QR code displayed on liquor bottles from a mobile phone to determine the authenticity of the product.
However, if the QR code on the liquor bottle is rejected the consumers can file a complaint via the app instantly.
This mobile app can be installed on smart phones via Google Play Store Apple’s App Store from today (Oct. 01).
