Several areas including Western Province to receive afternoon thundershowers

The Meteorology Department says showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the North-central, Central and North-western provinces and Mannar District during the afternoon or night.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Sea areas:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle in the evening or night.

Winds will be variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Colombo, Galle and Matara can be fairly rough at times. The sea areas around the island will be slight.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
