Army soldier killed, 9 injured in Mankulam cab-lorry crash

An army soldier died and 9 others were injured after a lorry collided with an army cab in Mankulam on Friday morning (26).

According to the police media division, a lorry en route to Kilinochchi has rear-ended an army cab carrying a group of soldiers near the Vasanthanagar junction.

One of the soldiers who was in critical condition succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the Kilinochchi District General Hospital. He was identified as a 39-year-old from Galgamuwa, a sergeant attached to the Murukkandi army camp.

The nine other soldiers who were wounded in the accident are currently receiving treatment at the Kilinochchi hospital.

The driver of the lorry has been arrested in connection with the accident and Mankulam Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
