How dare you defeated our beloved LTTE and killed all its leaders ignoring our word? Now you will have to pay. In fact, labour conditions in our country is worse than in SL. Actually, we are just finding some lame reasons to put you in trouble. No matter what you do, we will ask you to implement impossible policy changes and then will suspend GSP. Buwahahahaaa.

They should also investigate the situation in the USA as regards all these labour rights and how it is being implemented in this country.

It´s all about the government in power in Srilanka is not favorable to the US. This has been happening throughout history, for other countries too. I think before the US dominates in doing all these ugly punishments the Srilankan government should allow the Chinese to open and operate a high powered military base in Srilanka probably with nuclear capabality and explain to India the whole story. The US would get an heart attack!!!! This exactly the thing the US fears.

AFL-CIO, who knows who these institutions are but one thing is sure they wanted to sabotage development and rebuilding of Sri Lanka. The way media built up on this issue people thought there may be billions of dollars involved in the trade between US and Sri Lanka but just US$116 million, peanut business. After the war our Government has gradually proved that we are rich enough to manage and do not want to depend on GSP or GSP Plus. If anyone want to purchase world class quality merchandise get is touch with us and be prepared to follow our terms and conditions. Buyers have no right to talk about our culture on human rights and labour policy.

When EU GSP+ is stopped many Ministers and officials of treasury has publicily mentioned that Srilanka can go ahead without any assistance from others. Even a responsible Minister mentioned that he will file a case. Then why appoint a committee to probe labour rights violations.Govt should first appoint a committee to see how Ministers amassed billions illegally whereas 40% of families living less than Rs:7000 a month. Treasury is telling financial situation is improved, but it stopped 20% Bonus interest given to NRFC account holders who send valuble foreign exchnges to the country and recently same to the to senior citizens who contributed their life for the country. Corrupted politicians collecting all these and dancing in the parliment and outside whereas common people are starving.

Hallary Barack, you may be having worse labour conditions in your country but at least they can practice human rights. Almost everyone in your country are financially sound enough to have at least good food compared to what we ear here. Your suspending the GSP will certainly each a good lesson to rulers of this country but the hardship will be loaded on civilians of Sri Lanka, who try to live here. In addition to suspending GSP concession you must also immediately stop providing any klind of financial and other aids to Sri Lanka.
