Some will flunk their exams and go into politics (like Udula), others will cram through the exams and get a degree but will lack soft skills and will turn out be unemployed-graduate protesters, the balance will get through their exams and go for higher studies/foreign employment and live abroad... ultimate outcome is the the Sri Lankan taxpayers will get nothing for paying for these idiots education!

Govt´s tolertance is more than enough, and the authorities should take a firm action against these saboteurs. if not,our country will have to face for another dark era in the near future! These JVP idiots never allow our country to develop. They destroyed the stable economy in 1971,and now they try to destroy current economy as well in order to topple the Govt. What they expect from this kind of demostration is to block investers coming into the country. It´s time to wipe out these JVP ghosts otherwise they´ll bring this country back to the dark era by hook or by crook with the help of LTTE sympathisers.

July 28, 2010  05:18 pm

Dilan and other BIGOTS- Whatever the JVP motto is, however much they try to pretend to clean, they have been overwhelmingly rejected by the people of Sri Lanka. JVP toghether with UNP has made this country a rotten mess, not once but twice. Are you going to teach us values?

July 28, 2010  05:52 pm

So JVP becomes a scapegoat for all protest in the country. Allow money for defence Expenditure more than the war time, & cut the Education allocation less than previous years & dupe the public with lies.

These idiot "anthare" is a cancer for our country and for our free education. They pretend that they are the only representative of uni students, but, they are the people who destroy the reputation of uni students and the free education. The only thing they can do is shouting here and there. They have many ´pora´ talks, bt no works, nothing, except raging the freshers and making their mind to feel ´anthare´ is the only surviver of them. Their work is very similar to the works of their mother party, JVP. All Sri Lankans remember how they repaired 10,000 tanks during the CBK´s time. They have only talks, never do anything. These idiots are wasting the money of our poor people

Premadasa tactics have to be employed against these so called "educated" JVP idiots! This is a good time for them to do such protests as a new batch was just taken to the University. Surely, most of the 1st year students will be forcibly taken to the protest by the means of ragging. This is my 1st hand experience. JVP survives because of ragging and not letting the Uni students to study and get a good job. It´s a vicious cycle SL Universities are stuck with for decades. We have the best leadership capable of bringing and end to JVP bloody politics in Universities. Please president, Defence secretary and minister SB, put and end to this menace once and for all.

How come you guys are comparing university students in UK and and SL. If you are doing so, also compare their facilities, system, etc.. SL universities have hell lot of problems those were not addressed by any government for a long period. Its pathetic that no one is looking from student´s view. University is also another government body like others, hope you have experience how works done in government offices.

Hey chatura bandara, You call this "power of educated youth"...Let me tell you some thing. Generally students, go to a university to EARN a degree. Just walking through a university you will not become educated. If you are educated, why waste time in university? You all are uneducated youths with swollen heads who need to earn your degree and then come down to real word to learn what it is like to be an educated man/woman. Get over your illusion and start working.Wake up from your slumber, You have a long long way to go.

If general public think that JVP is behind this so called protest by students, it is fully justified. We come to conclusions based on our past experiences. More than 95% of population know the two bloody terrorist episodes of JVP that killed tens of thousands of civilians, family members of armed forces personnel, elected politicians and religious leaders. In both occsions, the launching pads were our universities. Here it is not a matter of finding a scapegoat in JVP, but telling for sure that JVP student thugs are behind these protests. Knowing very well that they can not win political power by democratic means, the JVP try all foul means to grab political power. Having sacrificed one generation of youths, now JVP is setting the stage for the next sacrifice. Mind you, LTTE, despite having a similar track record of terrorist activities like JVP, never interfered with university education. However JVP has been commiting this despicable crime of disrupting the children´s education in this country. One JVP supporter mentioned here the high defense expenditure, less allocation for education etc to justify the student protest.I thoght these students were protesting for so called " murder by police". You can jolly well see their hidden agenda.

To all Sri Lankan University students, Please take the advantage of the free education first finish your education then go to politics or whatever you are interested in. The students in other countries pay big money for university education, many students work nights or other part time jobs to meet their ends, and try to finish the education as early as possible, and they don´t have time for politics. Please don´t fall in to the political trap. Don´t waste your poor parent´s money earned by hard working.

Bandara dont become & arm chair critic, for criticizing sake, your just like the rogue politicians when they dont have answers to JVP questions they repeatedly pull their past history of violence nobody want to know the cause of their uprising, still they want to sideline & provoke another uprising, Bandara you may run away from the country but many are deprived that opportunity it is us the poor will have to suffer.

In Reply to Bandara, yes Mr Bandara 95% know the bloody terrorist episodes of the JVP, but no media or politicians informed the public why they resorted to such acts, JVP themselves have explained the reasons in some media debates once their ban is lifted by the 2 capitalist parties, space & time will not permit to elaborate the reasons, some people & politicians know the reasons but they deliberately ignore due to their cussedness & selfishness as they stand with a different political entity. The Capitalist Media too Ignore them, You could be right their launching pads could be Universities, only educated youths understand the corrupt political system of our country unlike the uneducated housewife & labourers who blindly follow the corrupt politicians not knowing what they are upto. You say JVP is trying to grab power by foul means, wasn’t the referendum, Jaffna DC election , Mahara By Election, Wayamba Election & the latest Presidential Election conducted by foul means followed by Parliamentary Election was it free & fair for you. If they are power hungry they wont resign from 4 ministries when they were with UPFA, if they towed with MR they would have got at least 10 ministries, Politics is a right for everyone, fruits of politics cannot be enjoyed by few, sidelining the other . Every Union of Srilanka from ISUF to Labour & vocation come for their salvation when in distress to JVP, because JVP consists 95% Singhala Educated Bhuddhist who stand for poor downtrodden & working class with an unchangeable policy for Justice & fairplay & their not cowards, they don’t care two hoots for their life & they are not drunk for posh life & power unlike other political parties . ISUF is an Independent student body its working committee & leader elected by secret ballot, All political parties are doing politics in Universties, including the JVP which has a union, not the ISUF. Like you say there are JVP thugs,UNP thugs, UPFA, Thugs, Hela URumaya thugs in Universities, when an injustice is done to them , all flock under ISUF, there are many short comings in our Educational System which needs overhauling, The undergraduates know once they pass out they have no scope, instead of addressing these problems, Govt has an hidden agenda to privatize universities, once privatized all good lecturers will be sucked by Private Universities, The State University will collapse, & rogue politicians will sell it to their Cohorts & henchayyahs for a song. An for those who say Ban politics in Universities none of the political parties will give their consent ,on the last TV debate by Derana Wada Pitiya on 27th July 2010 all politicians agreed on that aspect.
