Adjournment debate on President’s policy statement next week

The Party Leaders and the Political Party representative of the Parliament have decided to conduct two day adjournment debate on the government policy statement presented by the President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
They decided to schedule it for the 07th and 08th January 2020 at the Party Leaders and the Political Party representative meeting held in Parliament today (03).
Accordingly, the debate will be held from 1.00 p.m to 6.30 p.m on the 7th and the 8th. There will be no vote in this regard as it will be held as an adjournment debate.
Meanwhile, they have also decided to take vote of condolence on the former Prime Minister DM Jayaratne on 9th January following the adjournment debate.
Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri, Ministers Dinesh Gunawardena, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Johnston Fernando, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa Lakshman Kiriella, Gayantha Karunatilleke, Ajith P. Perera M.A Sumanthiran were present at the party leaders meeting held today (03), which was chaired by the Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya.
