The thirty-three Sri Lankans who were repatriated from Wuhan, China, continue to be in good health according to the Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

Speaking at a special press conference held at the Ministry of Health today (03), Wanniarachchi stated the students from Wuhan who are currently quarantined at the Diyatalawa Army Camp regularly undergo medical tests.

The Minister said that the students haven’t even contracted a minor cold that is usually caught inside the plane when flying.

There has been no evidence or symptom to claim that the students have been infected with the Coronavirus, she added.

The Health Minister pointing out that relations between China and Sri Lanka had always been friendly, said that this resulted in Sri Lanka being the 4th country to evacuate students from Wuhan.

The loyalty shown to Sri Lanka by China should never be tarnished, especially during this difficult time, said Wanniarachchi.

When the Health Ministry, along with other ministries, is taking steps to prevent the spread of the virus, the Sri Lankan public should continue to cultivate goodwill towards Chinese nationals, without alienating them, the Minister further requested.
