Yasantha Kodagoda sworn in as SC Judge, Dilip Nawaz as President of Appeal Court

Justice Yasantha Kodagoda has been sworn in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, the President’s Media Division said.
Meanwhile Justice A.H.M. Dilip Nawaz has been sworn in as the new President of the Court of Appeals.
They were sworn in before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo today (03).
The Constitutional Council (CC) had last month approved the recommendation to appoint President’s Counsel (PC) Yasantha Kodagoda as a Supreme Court justice and Dilip Nawaz as President of the Appeal Court.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had made the recommendations to the Constitutional Council.
Kodagoda was appointed the President of Appeals Court on the 28th of March last year and the President had recommended his name to fill the position vacated by the demise of Supreme Court Justice Prasanna Jayawardena PC.
Mr. Jayawardena passed away on the 24th of December last year while receiving treatment at a private hospital.
The Constitutional Council had also approved the appointment of A.H.M Dilip Nawaz as the President of the Court of Appeal, which is left vacant following the appointment of PC Yasantha Kodagoda as a Justice of Supreme Court.
Mr. Nawaz was appointed the Acting President of the Appeals Court on the 20th of January.
