The Minister of Public Transport Management Mahinda Amaraweera has called for a report on the incident of a bus traveling from Nuwara Eliya to Colombo overcharging its passengers.

The Minister had issued these directives to the Chairman of the National Transport Commission (NTC).

Meanwhile, the Commission has already carried out an inquiry into the incident, stated the Ministry of Passenger Transport Management.

Accordingly, the report is due to be handed over to Minister Amaraweera within this week.

If a normal bus has been issued a semi-luxury permit, even temporarily, the responsible officials must be looked in to as well, the Minister further instructed.

An incident of a bus with only a temporary semi-luxury permit traveling from Nuwara Eliya to Colombo charging its passengers the fare charged by semi-luxury buses was reported recently.
