Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has reassured the public that Sri Lanka is safe and sound and that the country’s security establishment is fully geared to fend off any further threats.
The President convenes the security council every week and discusses matters pertaining to security, he added.
The country is highly secure and the President along with the Defence Minister look into these matters, hence the security apparatus is in place to do the needful for the country, the Army Commander said further.
He made these remarks speaking to the media in Kandy.
In the meantime, former Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, appearing before the Presidential Commission investigating the Easter Sunday terror attacks, states that the risk of more attacks still lingers.
He went on to say that the appointment of the Select Committee to probe the Easter Sunday terror attacks was in violation of the Constitution and parliamentary traditions and that it was merely a means of covering up information.
