Body of man who died mysteriously found in Munneswaram

The body of a man who died under mysterious circumstances has been found early this morning (06) on Chilaw-Kurunegala main road in Munneswaram area.
The officers of Chilaw Police discovered the body, acting on information received regarding the dead body.
The deceased was identified as a resident of Kanjukkuliya area in Chilaw, named Suranga Sagara Jayasinghe. It was revealed that he had been employed in Italy for more than 20 years.
He has reportedly attended an alms-giving at a house in Melpura area and left there early this morning to go back to his house in Kanjukkuliya.
It is suspected that he died in a hit-and-run accident and the post-mortem investigation into his death is scheduled to be conducted at the District General Hospital in Chilaw this evening. However, the police have found no signs of a motor accident at the location where his body was discovered.
The traffic unit and the crimes division of Chilaw Police are conducting further investigations into the death.
