Leader of the ‘Samagi Jana Balawegaya’ and Sajith Premadasa today signed nomination papers for the upcoming General Election.
The former Opposition Leader signed the nominations as the Colombo District Group Leader, at the party’s office in Ethul Kotte.
General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Ranjith Madduma Bandara, former General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP) Tissa Attanayake, former MPs Chandrani Bandara and Ajith Mannapperuma were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile former UNP MP Arjuna Ranatunga told reporters today that the United National Party has prepared a nominations list, but it has still not decided whether to handover the nominations considering the prevailing situation in the country.
“We have to decide whether to contest or not because the lives of the people are more important than my votes. We have still not signed (nominations), but that will be concluded today. As the UNP we have prepared the list for each district and tonight we will decide as to whether we will hand them over.”
“I don’t think Ranil Wickremesinghe is a person who is trying to enter parliament while destroying people’s lives because the lives of the people are more important to us than election,” he said.
