Rumour has it...
Sarath Fonseka recently went to a private hospital in Colombo to visit MP Harin Fernando who was operated on during that week. Fonseka spent over an hour at the hospital where the conversation inevitably turned to the UNP.
“Sir, join the UNP now at least”, Harin stated.
“That isn’t such a big deal. All I need to do is pay Rs.20 and get a membership form”, SF stated while smiling.
“That’s not what I meant. Negotiate a post and then join the party”, Harin suggested.
“Harin, why don’t you talk it over. I’m ready”, some heard Fonseka whispering.
Soon after SF left, Ranil walked into Harin’s hospital room. Harin wasted no time in filling Ranil in on what had just happened.
“Sir, I just spoke to Sarath Fonseka about joining the party. Looks like he is interested. Can’t we give him some responsibility and let him join?”
“We’ll discuss it soon Harin”, Ranil stated positively.
