Rumour has it…
President’s Council Srinath Perera compiled a report on the attack on the UNP headquarters Sirikotha which found its way into the hands of Tissa Attanayake. Tissa decided that he would read aloud the contents of the report to the UNP Working Committee
Accusations were hurled at Sajith for not attempting to calm the situation when Maithree Gunaratna, Shiral Lakthilaka and Lal Perera were directly accused of being involved in the attack.
The report also recommended that the annual election for party leader must stop.
“Let’s present this report to a committee and resolve this issue peacefully”, Kabir Haseem asked Ranil after the report was read out.
“This report was compiled by a committee and now it’s time to put it forward to the disciplinary committee”, Ranil responded.
Sajith then shared his stance on the report stating that Malik, Jayalath and Lakshman Wijeymanne could attest to the effort he has put to calm the situation while adding that he also condemned fiercely those who had attacked the Sirikotha.
“The other thing is, the report doesn’t mention those who threw rocks back at the people from inside the headquarters and aggravated the situation. This is just like Channel Four”, he added,
One of the MPs sitting next to Sajith whispered in his ear while the debate heated up in the room.
“Our leader profited the most out of the attack on our headquarters. No more elections now no?”
Sajith who got visibly upset over the comment stated “The boss things that we are infants. There is a Hitler-type leadership within the party. He should watch it though. We are not scared of him. We’ll see now who wins in the end”.
