Sri Lanka’s opponents during the Super 8 stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup- scheduled to begin later this week - has been confirmed.
From the 20 teams competing in the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup, eight nations - the top two from each of the four groups - will move into the Super 8 stage.
Two-time champions West Indies became the first nation to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 with a convincing nine-wicket win against Nepal that assured them a top-two finish in Group C.
Defending champions India were the next team to make the cut for the Super 8 stage after a 61-run triumph over arch-rivals Pakistan in Group A.
Last year’s runners up, South Africa, have also qualified for the Super 8 from Group D alongside New Zealand.
Two-time winners England were the second team from Group C to enter the Super 8 after beating Italy by 24 runs in their final group match.
Co-hosts Sri Lanka were the first team to punch their tickets from Group B after beating former champions Australia.
Zimbabwe were the second team from Group B to advance to the Super 8 after a washout against Ireland, which also knocked Australia out of the T20 World Cup.
However, one Super 8 spot is still up for grabs as we head into the business end of the group stage with former champions Pakistan and USA still in contention for the berth.
