Sri Lankan bowlers managed to restrict the formidable England batting lineup to 146/9 in the Super Eight round contest of the 2026 T20 World Cup at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Dunith Wellalage spearheaded the bowling picking up 3/26.

Maheesh Theekshana and Dilshan Madushanka picked up two wickets apiece while Dushmantha Chameera took one scalp.

For England, opener Phil Salt scored a 40-ball 62 but the rest of the batters faltered before the Sri Lankan bowling lineup.

Earlier Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first.
