West Indies beat Zimbabwe by 107 runs in their T20 World Cup Super Eight match in Mumbai on Monday.

West Indies were a class apart at the Wankhede Stadium, overpowering Zimbabwe in a one-sided contest.

After piling up a massive total, the Caribbean side backed it up with a clinical bowling display that never allowed Zimbabwe to settle.

Set an imposing 255 to win, Zimbabwe struggled to keep up with the required rate and were eventually dismissed for 147, handing West Indies a thumping 107-run victory.

Gudakesh Motie led the charge with figures of 4 for 28, while Akeal Hosein matched the intensity with 3 for 28, as Zimbabwe failed to cope with the sustained pressure throughout the chase.

Akeal Hossein made an immediate impact with the ball, ripping through Zimbabwe’s top order as they crashed to three wickets inside the opening three overs of a massive chase. His tight lines and clever variations left the batters struggling, putting Zimbabwe in early trouble.

Shimron Hetmyer went on a rampage, smashing a 34-ball 85 before Rovman Powell’s 59 propelled West Indies to a mammoth 254/6, the second-highest total in T20 World Cup history. Hetmyer hammered a 19-ball half-century, dismantling Zimbabwe’s spin attack and shifting the momentum with a stunning display of power-hitting.

Shai Hope departed for 14 as West Indies lost both openers inside the powerplay, with Zimbabwe’s pacers striking early to leave them under pressure.

Earlier, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss at the Wankhede Stadium and chose to field first against the West Indies.
