Barcelona and Spain attacker Lamine Yamal has claimed the inaugural Young Sportsperson of the Year at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

The ceremony took place in Madrid on Monday night and Yamal was recognised for a superb 2025.

Yamal went into the new year as a European Championship winner with Spain and inspired Barca to a domestic treble last season.

Teenage sensational Yamal has kicked on this term and helped Barcelona get into a strong position to win another LaLiga title.

This is a second Laureus award for Yamal after he earned Breakthrough of the Year last April.

Aged only 18, Yamal is the youngest athlete to win two Laureus awards.
