Sri Lanka win the toss and elect to bat first against Australia

Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to bat first in the first Test against Australia in Kandy.

Sri Lanka have little going for them at the moment in terms of momentum and history as Australia come calling. In the last two series between the two in the sub-continent, Sri Lanka were on the losing end after a 1-0 win in 1999. So the history and recent head-to-heads aren’t favouring the once giants of the game.

AUSTRALIA XI: David Warner, Joe Burns, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith (c), Adam Voges, Mitchell Marsh, Peter Nevill (wk), Steve O'Keefe, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon

SRI LANKA XI: Dimuth Karunaratne, Kaushal Silva, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Angelo Mathews (c), Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Perera, Dilruwan Perera, Rangana Herath, Nuwan Pradeep, Lakshan Sandakan.
