Grand Park Arena Cricket Academy (GPA) scored their second win when they beat Panadura CC by 9 wickets in an Under-13 Nelson Mendis Group B encounter today (March 07) at Panadura St. John’s grounds.

Panadura CC won the toss and elected to bat first after the game got off to a delayed start due to overnight rain. The game was restricted to 22 overs per side.

Panadura CC only managed to score 113 runs in their allotted 22 overs with 7 wickets down.

The only batsman to impress for Panadura CC was Lahiru Sandakan who scored 39 runs with 5 boundaries.

GPA bowlers excelled once again with the right-arm fast bowler Chamash Lakshen claiming 2/17 in a super 5-over spell whilst right-arm medium paceman Matheesha Nadul took 3 important wickets for 20 runs in a devastating 5-over spell.

GPA consumed only 12 overs to reach the target of 114 set by Panadura CC.

GPA Openers Nethun Withanage and Pasindu Thilakshan once again paved the way for GPA with a quick 48 run opening partnership. Adeesha Maxwell (29 runs, not out) and Pasindu Thilakshan (48, not out) were at the crease when GPA romped home.
