Sri Lanka fast bowler Kasun Rajitha will replace paceman Dushmantha Chameera for the remaining matches of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) says.
Chameera was ruled out of Thursday’s Group A decider match against the Netherlands after he suffered a calf strain during the Sri Lanka-UAE match in Geelong on Tuesday (Oct. 18).
The 30-year-old picked up three wickets during yesterday’s match, as Sri Lanka knocked the UAE team out of the T20 World Cup with a 79-run win. The UAE team was bowled out for 73 while chasing 153.
Sri Lanka have already lost left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka, who was ruled out of the tournament with a quadriceps muscle tear and replaced in the squad by Binura Fernando.
Spin-bowling all-rounder Danushka Gunathilaka, who missed the UAE game, and fast bowler Pramod Madushan are also questionable due to hamstring issues.
