Indian and Sri Lankan cricketers taking part in the second cricket Test being played here, paid tribute and homage to former All Ceylon Cricketer Conroy Ievers Gunasekara, better known as C.I Gunasekara, who passed away today. He was 90.

Players from both sides observed two minutes silence shortly after lunch on the fourth day of the match as mark of respect for the late cricketer.

Hi- One of the best All-Rounders and Captain of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and SSC. Very good human being. My sympathies. He hammered Lindsay Kline, Australian Off spinner 27 or 28 runs(subject to correction) in one over in the Oval Ground, Wanathamulla. Dear CI - RIP.Bye-Nihalg

I have seen this great cricketer, ´CI´as he is popularly known, in action during my school days. I still vividly remember how he clouted the Australin spinner Kline at Wanathamulla Oval. If my memory is correct he scored an explosive 28 in just one over off him. He was an attacking bat and a spin bowler and above all that a gentleman sportsman. Our sympathies to the brieved family.
