England set 294 run target for Sri Lanka

  England scored 293 for seven against Sri Lanka in their Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy at the Oval on Thursday. 

Jonathan Trott (76), Joe Root (68) and Alastair Cook (59) were the main scorers for England, who will qualify for the semi-finals if they win the day-night game.

Ravi Bopara boosted the total by taking 28 runs, inclusive of three sixes and two fours, from the final over bowled by Shaminda Eranga.

Lasith Malinga finished with figures 2/58 while Shaminda took 2 for 80.

Sri Lanka, who lost to New Zealand in their first game, will be eliminated from the tournament if they lose.

Sri Lanka won the toss and invited England to bat first in overcast conditions in a crucial Group A ICC Champions Trophy match in London.
