June 8, 2017   01:11 pm

Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya stated that all lighting decorations set up at religious places will be powered using solar energy in the future.

The sentiments were brought out during a program organized to donate a stock of Solar Panels to the Dodamgaslanda Ridhee Viharaya, today (8).

He further added that the donation of these solar panels to religious communities around the country will also be a step towards encouraging a harmonious religious coexistence in the country.

Siyamabalapitiya stated that the use of Solar Panel has already helped generate around 50 MW in the short period time it was used for, and that the use of such technology will help Sri Lanka preserve its foreign reserves.
