CCD arrests Arjuna

UPDATE (5.52 pm): Former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga has been produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court a short while ago. 

 



Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has arrested MP Arjuna Ranatunga over the shooting incident at Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).

Three persons were shot at in a tense situation occurred within the CPC premises when the former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga arrived at the premises last evening (28).
  
One of the shooting victims succumbed to their injuries following admission to the National hospital.

Police Media Spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara stated that a guard of the former Minster Ranatunga had fired the gunshots and the relevant guard has been arrested over the incident.

Meanwhile, several Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) trade unions have launched an indefinite strike to protest the incident.
