Celebrating Thai Pongal...
January 14, 2013
Hindu devotees engage in religious observances at the Kochchikade Sivan Temple today (Jan 14), celebrating the Thai Pongal festival, a thanksgiving or harvest festival celebrated at the end harvest season. Taking its name from the first day of the month of Thai, this festival is traditionally dedicated to the offering of thanks to the Sun God - Surya, for all the blessings received for a successful harvest.
