Eid al-Fitr celebration at Galle Face Green…

The Muslim community in Sri Lanka got together at the Galle Face Green in Colombo to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr today (10) after the new crescent moon was sighted yesterday. Eid al-Fitr is a “festival of breaking the fast” and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The festival is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
