President AKD in Maldives…

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is currently on a three-day state visit to the Maldives, from July 28 to 30, 2025.

This marks President Dissanayake’s first state visit to the Maldives since taking office in September 2024. The visit is also significant as Sri Lanka and the Maldives commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations this year. 

President Dissanayake held bilateral discussions with Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Monday. After the discussions, agreements were exchanged between both parties. This included a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM) and the Bandaranaike Diplomatic Training Institute, as well as an agreement on mutual legal assistance.
