Egg prices likely to drop as govt mulls importing again

According to the All Ceylon Egg Producers Association, eggs will be released to the market at the price of Rs. 42 per egg starting from today (22).

President of the association, R.M. Sarath Ratnayake said that steps will be taken to further reduce the price of eggs in the near future.

However, it has been reported that the government plans to import eggs once again in the future to control the prices.

When inquired by Ada Derana, Trade Minister Nalin Fernando revealed that the decision regarding importing eggs to Sri Lanka again is expected to be announced today (22).
