350 prisoners to be released on Prisoners’ Day

A total of 350 prisoners serving sentences for minor offences in prisons islandwide are slated to be released tomorrow (12) to mark Prisoners’ Day, says the Prisons Spokesman and the Prisons Commissioner Gamini B. Dissanayake.

He stated that the prisoners in question, selected from prisons across the country based on conditions, will be released on a state pardon through powers vested with the President.
