Indian arrested with ‘Ice’ drugs worth Rs. 25 mln at BIA

The officers of Sri Lanka Customs have arrested an Indian passenger, who arrived in the island from Malaysia, at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake for attempting to smuggle a large consignment of ‘Ice’ drugs (crystal methamphetamine) into the country.

Customs officials have discovered 01 kilogram of ‘Ice’ drugs hidden within sarees which were in the possession of the Indian national, who arrived from Malaysia onboard flight UL 315.

The street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs. 25 million, according to the Sri Lanka Customs.

The suspect and the consignment of drugs have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
