Lanka-e-News suspension lifted, journalist released

May 12, 2011   01:25 pm

Pugoda Magistrate Court today lifted the suspension on Lanka-e-News website and released its journalist Shantha Wijeysooriya. Courts on April 28 temporarily banned the operation of the Lanka e-News website until the court proceedings regarding arrested Journalist Shantha Wijesooriya are over.

Wijeysooriya was arrested by the Kirindawela police after the news website had published what the Pugoda Magistrate deemed as a slanderous article (April 10) towards the courts.
