Five arrested, 20,000 copies of ‘Lanka’ newspaper seized

Four persons and a former editor arrested and over 20,000 copies of the JVP’s ‘Lanka’ newspaper have been seized last night. Suspects have been released on bail, Ada Derana reporter confirms.

Armed with a search warrant the Mount Lavinia Police inspected the printing press situated at Kurunduwatta Road, Ratmalana and arrested the five individuals.

It has been reported that a former editor of Lanka newspapers, who had been suspended by the Director Board, was also amongst the arrested.

The suspects were released on bail after giving statements to the police.
