13 claymore mines, weapons stockpile found in Vavuniya

A large stock of weapons and explosives, including 13 high power claymore mines and a T86 mortar bomb, hidden in the Kalmadu forest area in Vavuniya has been discovered. The weapons were found following a tipoff received by the Vavuniya police criminal investigation unit.
Police suspect that the weapons haul had been canceled by LTTE cadres for later use during the final stages of the Wanni humanitarian mission.
Police stated that the explosives will be disarmed after they are handed over to the army.
