Bus driver falls asleep at wheel and crashes into power pole, 16 injured

Sixteen passengers of a tour bus were injured and hospitalized due to an accident on the Anuradhapura-Puttalam road in the 6th Mile Post area.
The bus was traveling from Wellampitiya to Anuradhapura, on a weekend leisure trip, when the driver of the bus had fallen asleep at the wheel causing the bus to veer off the road and crash into an electricity pole.
The wounded have been admitted to Puttalam Hospital while none of them are said to be in critical condition, police said.
The driver of the bus has been taken into custody over the accident. (AdaDerana)
