Two arrested for extorting money from ‘Poosari’

Two persons have been arrested for extorting money from a ‘Poosari’ of a Hindu Kovil in Rakwana by threatening him over the phone.

The suspects had initially received Rs. 250,000 from the clergyman and had later demanded another Rs. 3 million, police said.

Investigation on to this had led to the arrest of the two men, who were ordered remanded till June 14 after being produced at Pelmadulla Magistrate’s Court.

Rakwana Police is conducting further investigations.
