UPDATE: Fire at shop in Mount Lavinia, One dead; Galle Road traffic restored

One person has died and three more injured due to a fire that erupted in a tyre shop in Mount Lavinia at around 1.30am this morning. Police said a short while ago. The Fire Brigade and Air Force has been deployed to douse the flames at the three storey tyre shop situated in near Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia.

 

(7.03am) UPDATE: Earlier vehicles travelling from Colombo towards Galle were diverted from Dehiwala through Attidiya. Latest update from police states that both lanes of traffic on Galle Road has been restored. While those injured due to the fire has increased to three. Meanwhile the Fire Brigade and Air Force has managed to bring the fire under control and douse the flames, Police said.
