VIDEO: Trains to Trinco terminated from Palugaswewa

Trains to Trincomalee have been terminated from Palugaswewa due to a derailment at Kekirawa after a wild elephant was hit by a Colombo-bound train last night, the Railway Department said.

The train was traveling to Colombo from Batticaloa via Trincomalee when the accident had taken place in Gal Oya- Kekirawa.

The Railway Department said that trains from Colombo to Trincomalee will be terminated from Palugaswewa while trains from Trincomalee to Colombo will be terminated from Palugaswewa temporarily.

However, train services on the Trincomalee-Colombo line are expected to return to normal within a few hours.
