20 injured in wasp attack at Victoria Park

Twenty visitors to the Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya were hospitalized after being attacked by a swarm of wasps this morning.

The injured persons are said to be residents of Colombo and Kandy while several children were among them, according to a spokesman for the Nuwara Eliya Hospital.

Police said the wasp attack which occurred at around 11.30 am today was caused due to a wasp nest in a tree located in the Victoria Park was disrupted.
